Cafe Review: Cafe Sabel (and a quick tour at Bencab Museum)

This review is the last for our quick Baguio food trip. For the last few weeks, we’ve been telling you wonderful stories about Oh My Gulay and Cafe by the Ruins. For those two, we were more concerned with dishes and pastries. For this one though, we will be appreciating Cafe Sabel more as a simple cafe!

But before we go into that, let’s take a side trip at Bencab Museum. Bencab Museum is also in Baguio. Most of the artworks in here are made by the national artist Benedicto Reyes Cabrera, more known as BenCab.

Personally, I found the artworks widely engaging. They are the kind of works that will left you staring for seconds, even minutes because they look so meaningful. Disclaimer though, I am not an art analyst. I just really appreciate beautiful things and here are the artworks that I appreciated the most:

These vandalisms seem to be taken from wherever! I like how seemingly ugly things made up this beautiful composition. They were captured and enhanced to line up this wall. And just look at the final product, isn’t this very picturesque?

These are profound. The paintings look so meaningful. I can’t help but take a picture.

This one is also profound and looks so meaningful as well. It also looks so simple but the details are just amazing.

Lastly, doesn’t this sculpture look so real? I stared at this inked wood for minutes, marveling at its realistic shape and proportion.

Now after that quick detour, we go to talking about Café Sabel. Café Sabel is inside BenCab Museum and since we just came from Oh My Gulay that time, we were still full and we just opted to order for some iced coffee.

Their coffee was okay. It wasn’t the best but it was enough to keep us chilled while looking at the completely stunning view of Baguio City.

Overall, I would say that Café Sabel is not the best café if you’re on the search for the best coffee there is. But the place is too gorgeous that you surely need to try. Sipping a coffee here and probably eating some snacks as well is so relaxing and there are so many beautiful things nearby that you can take a look at.
